After overdosing on Turkey and gammon over the Festive season, I wanted to make something different to say thank you to my folks for having us.
I happened to stumble upon The Hairy Bikers Asian Adventures on the telly box whilst they were in Tokyo. I was interested to see what they'd make and there was my dinner inspiration, Tonkatsu Pork.
The sauce was amazing! If you're not keen on pork you could easily replace it with chicken or fish.
Apart from getting in trouble for getting oil on the floor, it's relatively easy to make and absolutely delicious. It definitely won me brownie points with the family and got me out of the washing up, WIN.
It's the perfect dish for entertaining. You can make the sauce and prep the pork in advance, giving you more time with your guests.
I served the Tonkatsu with Japanese rice, crispy kale and pak choi. NOM!
